What if I’m named the agent under the financial power of attorney, how do I actually sign?
A lot of that depends on what documentation you’re signing and what the institution requires.  You always want to defer what your bank is requesting or whatever the financial institution is requesting. Let’s say that my client’s name is John Doe. John Doe is naming Jane Doe as his agent under a Financial Power of Attorney. In that case Jane Doe would sign the documentation as follows: John Doe, by and through his agent, Jane Doe.  Sometimes financial institutions do allow a shortened version, in which case, Jane Doe would sign the documentation as Jane Doe, POA or Jane Doe, Agent. Always ask the bank or financial institution and if you do have questions, please contact our office.
